  3. Monitoring Growth and Development: Tracks oral development, addressing concerns like misalignment or bite issues early.
  4. Preventing Dental Anxiety: Creates positive dental experiences, reducing anxiety and promoting regular check-ups.
  5. Cavity Prevention: Implements preventive measures like fluoride treatments and sealants to ward off cavities.
  6. Educating Parents and Caregivers: Informs parents about children’s oral health, empowering them to support dental well-being.
  7. Promoting a Lifetime of Oral Health: Nurtures a foundation for a lifetime of good oral health practices and preventive care.
  8. Monitoring Orthodontic Needs: Identifies potential orthodontic issues and guides parents on timely intervention.

Frequently asked questions

What age should a child start seeing a dentist?

Ideally, a child should visit the dentist by their first birthday or when their first tooth emerges.

How often should children have dental check-ups?

Regular check-ups every six months are recommended for preventive care and early intervention.

Are baby teeth essential, and why?

Yes, baby teeth are crucial for speech development, proper nutrition, and guiding adult teeth into place.

When should children start brushing their teeth?

As soon as the first tooth appears, parents can start gently brushing with an infant-sized toothbrush.

How much toothpaste should children use?

For children under 3, a smear of toothpaste is sufficient; for ages 3-6, use a pea-sized amount.

How can parents prepare a child for their first dental visit?

Discuss the visit positively, read books about dentists, and avoid using negative language.

What is fluoride and how does it benefit children's teeth?

Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. It’s often in toothpaste and drinking water.

Are dental sealants necessary for children?

Sealants are a preventive measure to protect molars from cavities and are often recommended.

How can parents manage teething discomfort?

Use a clean finger to massage gums, provide teething rings, or offer a chilled, soft teething toy.

When should children start flossing?

How can thumb-sucking be addressed?

Gentle encouragement, positive reinforcement, and, if needed, discussing intervention with the dentist can help.

Are sports mouthguards necessary for children?

Yes, custom-fitted mouthguards protect against dental injuries during sports and recreational activities.

I cannot praise Dr Crowley and the team at Molesey Dental practise enough. One year ago I was in trouble with my teeth. A mix of age and embarrassment. I finally came to the point where I had no choice but to attend. I booked my appointment and to say I received complete professionalism is a understatement. I could write many lines of praise, but will keep it simple. Please don't hesitate!!! Make an appointment, be honest and you will not be judged whatsoever. The painless processes that are applied is certainly life changing. Huge thankyou to all the team at MDP. Thankyou. I finally smile with complete confidence once again!!!!

Excellent dental practice! My dentist is Dr Crowley who is absolutely brilliant. As an emergency, I booked an appointment with Dr Sharma who went above & beyond to ensure I trusted her and was comfortable with a different dentist. She did a fantastic and efficient job replacing my filling. The reception is also very friendly and professional. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After years of not seeing a dentist due to criticisms, critiques and bad relationships with all the ones I've had prior I was sceptical going in but knew that my dental health would one day catch up to me. So I went just before I went off to university. my dentist was Dr Puneet Nagpal who was very kind and considerate after learning I haven't been for a checkup for quite some time and he went through everything very thoroughly but was gentle with the tools and his words, he wasn't condescending or patronising or putting any blame on me. He told me that I needed to have half a dozen or so fillings filled and I told him about my deadline as I was off to university by the end of the month and he was able to book me in the following week for 2 rounds of fillings. We also had other talks about personal life and how much sugar and drinks can affect my teeth and he went out of his way to google and search for things that I would like and made some suggestions. During the fillings I had to excuse my self a couple of times due to an excess of water filling my mouth and having difficulty breathing, luckily he understood gave me time to compose myself and settle back in and I was able to wear some headphones to help distract myself from the noise of the drilling and from the pain. All 3 times I went to visit him he went above and beyond any dental experience I've had before and has made me care much more about my dental hygiene even more so and has made me feel comfortable with going back to the dentists as I would dread it before. Dr Nagpal has been one of if not the kindest person who has looked after me in any sort of medical visit I've so often needed in my life, I could not recommend him enough.
